Herman Widjaja is a technology executive, investor, and builder with more than two decades of experience building products, platforms, and engineering organizations across the U.S. and Southeast Asia, serving hundreds of millions of users. Throughout his career, he has held technology leadership roles at Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Google, ByteDance, and most recently served as Chief Technology Officer at Tokopedia, where he led organizations spanning AI, data, fintech, and large-scale digital platforms. Today, Herman is the Founder of HM Capital, an operator-led investment firm built on the philosophy of Harmoni Mahakarya—the belief that extraordinary companies are created when visionary founders, operational excellence, technology, and patient capital work in harmony. He partners with exceptional founders to help build enduring companies by bringing together technology leadership, operational experience, and long-term partnership.

Herman held top technology leadership roles, most recently serving as CTO at Tokopedia and previously as Group CTO at GoTo, spearheading initiatives in data-driven innovation and financial inclusion across a platform serving over 100 million users. He also leveraged his expertise to lead the financial technology sector as CEO of Semangat Digital Bangsa (Tokoscore), focusing on democratizing credit access through alternative credit scoring and ML-based risk solutions.

His distinguished global career spanned nearly two decades across the world's leading technology firms. At Google (AR/VR) and Facebook (Oculus VR), he served as a Senior Engineering Manager, where he built, led, and grew multi-location engineering teams responsible for infrastructure, tools, and certification programs for cutting-edge AR/VR products like DayDream and Rift/GearVR. These roles cemented his deep expertise in scalable infrastructure, AI, and immersive technologies, resulting in him holding 15+ patents and publications. His leadership was recognized across ASEAN by both the CIO50 and CIO100 awards.
